Dr Stephanie MacIlwaine
A Little Bit About Stephanie
I am an HPCSA-registered Clinical Psychologist with a special interest and Masters Degree in Neuropsychology from the University of the Witwatersrand. I work with a range of psychological and psychiatric difficulties, in particular individuals with neuropathology, such as dementia, epilepsy, traumatic brain injuries, and their families. This may involve neuropsychological assessment, cognitive rehabilitation, family therapy and individual therapy.
I enjoy working within multidisciplinary teams to optimize patient care. I see myself as a warm psychotherapist who is really passionate about my work.
Why I Became a Psychiatrist
I was drawn to the field of Psychology from an interest in understanding more about people and their behaviour. Through working for a practice that specialized in treating individuals with TBI (and their families), I was introduced to the field of Neuropsychology.
My Interests and Focus Areas
I have worked in government community clinics and hospitals for six years. I was a joint appointee at the University of the Witwatersrand where I was involved in the training of intern psychologists as well as lecturing of university students. I am now in private practice in Bryanston.
